Newbridge Student off to University of Waterloo Computer Science Workshop
Newbridge Academy is proud to send out a huge congratulations to Grade 9 student Samantha Blair who has been selected as 1 of 36 young women across the country to attend a Computer Science workshop hosted by the University of Waterloo. Sam’s interest in attending the event stems from her knowledge of engineering, sparked ever since she “attended a regional science fair last year in grade eight.” Her project was about producing electricity through a bike, using mainly car engines to produce the electricity. With this project, she had won “best physics project” at the regional science fair.
This created a love of physics and engineering, closely shared with her dad and she has continued to delve into learning as much as she could about this branch of science. When she received news that she was chosen for this prestigious conference she said: “It still shocks me just thinking about this chance that I have been given, and I am honoured to be chosen for this incredible opportunity”.
We wish her the best of luck as she travels to the University of Waterloo for this amazing event. Well Done Sam!
