Newbridge Rugby Club – January Update
Hello again from the Newbridge Rugby Club! It has been a while since our last communication, but that does not mean we have not been busy. Over the last few months, the students have been hard at work further developing their skills and growing their knowledge of Rugby. We have been able to run through game-like situations, have moved onto playing mini games of flag/touch, and more complicated drills for skills development.
We have been working towards a flag Rugby tournament to be held here at Newbridge Academy within the coming weeks. This will involve our junior high students, as well as invited junior high schools from the area to participate at our facility. It gives our students, along with others, an opportunity to display the skills learned in a fun, exciting atmosphere. We will be making another post about the tournament as details arise.
Thank you’s from the Rugby club are extended to members of Eastern Shore RFC, in particular Jonathan Copp, for taking time to deliver sessions earlier in the year and sharing his knowledge of the game with the students, to Rugby Nova Scotia and Jack Hanratty for delivering sessions, as well as support for developing opportunities here at the school, and to the other volunteers that have taken time out of their days to assist in coaching and sharing their love of the sport!
