Newbridge Academy would like to welcome back Cameron MacLean for another year!
Cameron played with Newbridge Academy’s PeeWee Varsity team last year and will be making the jump to Major Bantam for the 2017-18 season. Cameron comes to us fromNew Haven, PEI where he grew up playing minor hockey.
“Cam has the ability to be a game changer. His offensive instincts come naturally and he has a nose for the net. Having the opportunity to coach Cameron last year was a pleasure. He is not only a great hockey player, but he is a tremendous athlete and all around person.” Keifer House, Head of Athletic Programming
Cameron’s passion for hockey started at a young age, but in his spare time he enjoys training, baseball and very recently, golf. Before moving to Newbridge Academy, Cameron had wonderful opportunities for development by playing with numerous hockey teams, including his home team in PEI. He has also gained experience abroad, playing in hockey tournaments within Canada and the U.S. Throughout his career, Cam has celebrated various tournament and provincial championships with his teammates in both hockey and baseball. Most recently, he was honoured to have been chosen as an underage player for Team PEI in the Atlantic Cup Challenge in 2016.
“We are happy to see Cameron return to Newbridge Academy with such enthusiastic and supportive teachers and coaches who care significantly about the student athletes’ personal, educational and athletic development. We are also very excited to see the new state of the art facility.” Dean Maclean, Father
Cameron is very mature for his age, having participated in many volunteer opportunities, including helping out the Salvation Army. He also knows exactly what he needs to do in order to succeed, choosing to return to Newbridge to maximize his potential as an athlete and student.
“Being at Newbridge Academy puts me in the best position to perform to my potential academically and as an athlete. Last year I made good gains in the classroom and on the ice. I’m looking forward to more of that, along with great memories with my teachers, coaches, teammates, and billet family.”
We are very pleased to have Cameron returning for another successful season!
