Newbridge Academy welcomes Kingston, NS Courtney Boone to Female Varsity Fall 2016
With an exciting list of hockey achievements under her belt, Courtney Boone will join the Female Midget Varsity program this September securing the back end with her new teammates.
Boone has played hockey with the Western Valley and Acadia organizations at the boys AAA/AA levels. Most recently, she played her last season with the Western Valley Bantam AA Spartans and the West Kings Senior High School Wolverine girls’ team. Always pushing for more, Courtney attended tryouts for the Major Bantam Valley Wildcats Spring ID program and was selected as a protected player for the fall camp. During her season with the Acadia Axemen Peewee AAA team, she and her teammates represented the Halifax Mooseheads at the International tournament in Quebec City. Courtney has also been selected for numerous Spring AAA programs, both male and female, such as the Acadia Selects, NS Raiders, Andrews Training Institute Atlantic Team, Chebucto Atlantics and CT Selects.
“Sometimes you just don’t know about some of the kids out there that would be a fit for the program until pointed out to you. This summer, I was fortunate enough to see Courtney play in PEI on a tip from some of our returning families and it was a great tip to follow up on. Courtney has the right stuff to be a part of our school and program. I really enjoyed her play, but more than that, the maturity that she has shown in conversation and in how she has a plan for her future that she wants to build on through Newbridge Academy. I believe that we have the right place for her to realize the stepping stones to her future. Myself and the staff are very pleased to welcome Courtney to our school and varsity hockey program.” – Paddy Flynn, Head Coach, Director of Varsity Hockey Programs, Newbridge Academy
Named Captain and Assistant Captain often, Boone is a natural leader on and off the ice. Her positive attitude and willingness to excel in school make her an ideal fit for the program. Courtney is excited to be playing with like-minded student athletes representing Newbridge Academy in the Junior Women’s Hockey League. Her future goals include combining post-secondary in sciences, with either an NCAA or CIS varsity hockey program.
A multi-sport athlete, Courtney enjoys softball, golf, and badminton but soccer is her second passion closest to hockey. Playing for the Kingston Greenwood U15 team, she also takes time to assistant coach with the U12 team. While maintaining her honours in school, Courtney volunteers with various youth leadership, sports and recreation organizations within her school and community.
“Having met many of the current Newbridge players and their families through the hockey network, hearing their experiences and the enthusiasm which they speak of both the athletics and academics we are looking forward to being a part of such a vibrant community” -The Boone Family
Welcome to Newbridge Academy Courtney!
