Tony’s teaching career began at Oromocto High School moving from there to do the bulk of his career at John Caldwell School in Grand Falls, NB.
Tony grew up in a military family which subsequently saw him develop his hockey skills in a range of settings including Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Europe. His return to New Brunswick in his grade 12 year saw him captain the Oromocto HS Blues High School hockey team in his first and only year at the school. Tony went on to play 3 years with the Junior A Fredericton Red Wings, followed by two years with the UNB Red Devils. Tony played a number of years of Senior hockey with both the Fredericton Caps and the Grand Falls Cataracts.
“Tony has been a great hockey supporter of UNB as both a player and as an alumni, an athlete who has a lot to give and will be a great mentor for young adults.”

Tony’s experiences as a bench boss have seen him lead teams to NBIAA Provincial Championships in Girl’s Volleyball, Boy’s Basketball and Boy’s Soccer as well as provincial club titles in U16 & U18 Boy’s Volleyball and a Senior’s Men’s Hockey league title. As well, Tony acknowledges his 3 year involvement as Assistant Coach with the 1989 Canada Games NB Women’s Volleyball team as being pivotal in his coaching growth and development. Championships and accolades not withstanding, what Tony cherishes most are the thousands of relationships that he has developed in the world of education and athletics.
Tony’s teaching and coaching philosophy is to nurture differentiated individual development while at the same time, creating a cohesive team and classroom atmosphere.
At 56, Tony’s passion for education, coaching and active lifestyle remains undaunted and he is guided by the his favourite saying; “ Progress Beats Perfection”.
“When I was told that Tony had an interest in coming to Newbridge Academy to take this on I quickly sourced out comment from friends in the hockey world for their thoughts. The response was overwhelming that we had the right man for the job. The statement that definite those conversations were, ‘…he is a rock solid guy…’, just what you want to hear when trusting a program such as our 2004 Varsity Team to new Head Coach.”
