Alex comes from a family of athletes with his father playing in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) and being drafted to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and his mother being a three time Atlantic University Sports Rugby All-Star and Canadian Interuniversity Sport All-Canadian at University of Prince Edward Island.
“I have been a student and part of the Newbridge Academy community for the past two years and Newbridge has helped give me the tools to grow as a student and as an athlete in so many ways. The education I have received, from learning about technology to speaking in-front of my peers and everything in-between, has helped me to keep pushing and challenging myself. I enjoy the smaller class sizes, the strong bonds I’ve developed with friends and the different opportunities to learn in an fun educational environment.” – Alex Carr
“The hockey program at Newbridge has given me more hockey awareness, ‘thinking outside the box’, helped me concentrate on all aspects of hockey to help fine tune my skill development, how to be a more well-rounded confident hockey player, and helped give me a better understanding and preparation for the mental part of the game.” - Alex Carr
“I want to succeed in life and give a 100% in both school and hockey and live life with no regrets. I have experienced what an environment like Newbridge Academy can offer and I am excited for what the future holds and I am excited to be a part of something new like the varsity hockey program.” - Alex Carr
Alex is very dedicated physically and mentally to reaching his goals of becoming the best person he can be on and off the ice. He has very strong educational goals and uses every opportunity to develop his education and to further his knowledge. Alex thanks Newbridge for helping him reaching some of his goals so far and achieving what he is setting out to accomplish in life.
When Alex is not playing hockey he enjoys golf, paintball, being with his friends and camping.
-“To succeed in life you need to give 100% in everything that you do and live life with no regrets” - Alex Carr
“Alex has demonstrated over the last number of years both as a student and as a player; in our spring program, that at a young age he is growing into a fine young man and especially in areas of leadership. Alex regularly understates himself in order to see teammates thrive, the kind of traits that leaders are known for; however, his teammates allow him to reciprocate because they all know that he is an important piece to their overall success as a team.”
