Dal Lead Conference – by Cam Lewis
Student: Cam Lewis
The annual Dal Lead Conference returned for its fourth year on February 2nd, 2018. A conference brought together by the students of Dalhousie University to emphasize the idea of “what’s next?” The day was revolved around three workshops, all of which contained different presentations to attend.
You had the ability to choose a topic that interested you in hope to peak your interest and potential of becoming a leader. In turn, you would use what you learned at the conference to take a step forward, not only within yourself, but also with the world around you. The event had great keynote presentations put on by students, along with a special guest speakers, Ryan McMahon and Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard.
Different presentations were aimed to have a certain impact on you as a person. For example, the presentation of “Life against Adversity” had a strong emotional imprint, forcing the audience to dive deeper into their thoughts of future challenges. Another presentation about time management triggered the ambition of many people, supplying the audience with a new motivation and a skill we became eager to apply.
Dal Lead provided an enjoyable experience allowing us to walk away with knowledge and skills. If we can utilize these skills, we will find ourselves in the driving seat moving at a speed we never would’ve thought was possible. An amazing conference that is definitely an event that is worth going back to for years to come. -Cameron Lewis (Grade 11)
