Callum Baxter – F1 Star of the Future
This weekend the pinnacle of motorsport racing, the Formula 1 circuit, comes to Canada as the Grand Prix of Canada at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Newbridge’s very own Callum Baxter (Grade 6) will be at Canada’s premier motorsport event as one of ASN Canada FIA’s “F1 Stars of the Future”. Callum, fresh off of his Junior Lite win at the CRFKC race in Hamilton, ON last weekend, is one of 20 young karting competitors from across Canada selected to participate in the pre-race ceremonies with the 20 F1 drivers.
As an F1 Star of the Future, Callum will meet the F1 drivers, interact with them and their teams during race day morning, and stand alongside his F1 idols on the world-televised starting grid during the National Anthem at the 2018 F1 Canadian Grand Prix on June 10.
F1 Management – “This will be an extraordinary moment for these youngsters: imagine, standing beside their heroes, watch as they prepare to race, the elite of the elite in motorsport, to be there, alongside them in those precious few minutes just before the start. What an unforgettable experience, for them, and their families. An inspiration to keep driving, training, and learning so that they can dream of one day being there themselves. What better way to inspire the next generation of Formula 1 heroes.”
Callum and his fellow F1 Stars of the Future will be wearing full karting suits provided by Puma, which they will get to keep as a memento of a very special day in their young motorsport careers. Be sure to watch for Callum at the start of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Canada live broadcast 3:00 PM Atlantic on Sunday, June 10. The race will feature one Canadian on the grid, Lance Stroll (racing with Williams) who also got his motorsport start in Canadian karting.
